Launched by Abu Dhabi Racing (ADR) in partnership with the National Health Insurance Company – Daman, the Daman Speed Academy (DSA) aims to groom young UAE Nationals to become professional racing drivers and to bolster the Emirate’s presence in international motorsports.
Established under the aegis of Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Racing and Mr Khaled Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Chairman of the Board, National Health Insurance Company – Daman and Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Racing, the Daman Speed Academy will sponsor a handful of young UAE Nationals every year to undergo a comprehensive driver training programme. The young aspirants will go through a series of courses, seminars, workshops and track-time; ultimately preparing them for life as professional sportspeople and top performers in various capacities. The Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi will be home to the academy.
On successful completion of the training, the academy hopefuls will compete at local and international level in motorsport disciplines ranging from karting to single seaters and similar racing series. An individual driver development fund has been set up within the academy offering sponsorship for the selected young nationals to compete in local and international race series to gain experience and further develop their capabilities.
The programme has been designed exclusively by a consortium of international racing drivers together with accredited trainers and instructors from international motorsports. The programme broadly consists of on and off-track coaching to develop driving skills, physical and mental fitness sessions, advice on leading a healthy lifestyle, monitor academic performance, leadership qualities and discipline, media training and instruction on safety and rules.
